Genus of ~8 species with hundreds of cultivars and mutants. All slow-growing rhizome plants. Grows on hardscape (wood/stone) or in substrate — rhizome NEVER buried. Tolerates wide range of parameters. Notable rare cultivars: Broad White, Caladiifolia VarKing (€55!), Coffeeifolia, Dragonclaw Golden, Koala Viper, Marble Japan, Mini Coin, Mini Coin White, Mini Coin Stardust, Snow White, Stardust, Panda, Panda White, Pangolino, Petite. Variegated/marble mutants are unstable — can revert to green.

- Attach with thread, glue, or rubber bands
- Rare mutants (Mini Coin White, Stardust, Panda White) are most expensive cultivars
- Variegated/marble mutants unstable — can revert to green
- All species (barteri, nana, congensis, gigantea, gracilis) same basic care
- Panda White and Snow White are most sought-after white variants
- Petite = smallest species, ideal for nano
